Golfing
For the golf enthusiast, the Sooke area offers excellent
golf greens in natural surroundings.
In particular, the Olympic View Championship
Golf Course, located in a breathtaking park-like
setting at a 35 minute drive from Sooke, ranks
among the top 35 greens in Canada.
Relatively new to Vancouver Island is the Bear
Mountain Golf and Country Club, located at a 25
minute drive. The course, opened in 2003, was
designed by renowned course designer Jack Nicklaus
and his son Steve, and has been voted the #1 new
course in Western Canada, and the #4 in all of Canada.
In Sooke itself, a more modest 9 hole golf course is
offered. The De Mamiel Creek Par 3 Golf Course is
centrally located at 6518 Throup Rd.
