Ira Hoffecker is a visual artist from Germany who lives and works in Victoria, B.C.
She is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Ira’s work is represented by seven galleries in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Washington State.
Her paintings are informed by cities’ identities; she is interested in urban alterations: both historical and contemporary. The geometric shapes inherent in architecture and the maps relating to architectural form provide my compositional language. Her work examines the relationships between people and cities by responding to reconstruction and restoration in the urban landscape.
She has had solo and duo exhibitions at The Front Gallery in Edmonton, Axis Contemporary Art in Calgary, Dales Gallery in Victoria, The Gallery at Matticks in Victoria and group exhibitions at Granville Fine Art Gallery in Vancouver and Sopa Fine Arts in Kelowna.
Ira’s painting BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ received the Juror’s Award at the juried Sooke Fine Art Show 2012, and another $ 1000 Award at the juried Painting On The Edge 2012 Exhibition in Vancouver.
She studied art at the Vancouver Island School of Art and will gain her Diploma of Fine Arts in May 2013 and is simultaneously taking art history courses at Emily Carr University in Vancouver.
