Sooke Harbour House is the proud recipient of two new accolades to start off 2010.
Sooke Harbour House has been awarded Most Excellent Eco Resort in the United States and Canada by Condé Nast Johansens 2010 Annual Awards for Excellence. The Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence are made annually to those properties worldwide that represent the finest standards and best value for money in luxury and independent accommodation.
“An eco resort is a hotel/resort that uses nature friendly resources for everything from construction to cleaning products. These resorts also reuse many of their items and try to minimize our ecological impact as much as possible. Eco resorts typically have a focus on learning new ways to live on the planet, bettering the environment and appreciating the natural surroundings. To accomplish this, eco resorts not only implement an environmentally-conscious approach to running their business, some also offer guests volunteer opportunities to help the environment and local community as well as a variety of eco-activities, such as nature tours and turtle-release programs.”
Known as the “burgundy bible,” Zagat Survey is the world’s most trusted source for information about where to eat, drink, stay and play around the globe, and as such has become a symbol of quality. Sooke Harbour House received high ratings in the food, décor and service areas with a 27, 26, 26 score, out of 30, for 2010.
“With its inspired and obsessively local Pacific Northwest cuisine of fresh, seasonal ingredients often grown right on property, Sinclair and Frederique’s outstanding, long-time destination favourite, right on the water in Sooke, never fails to impress with tasteful attention to every detail; an eloquent staff helped navigate an extensive cellar that is among the region’s best at this understated room that yields a total country-inn experience.”
