This awards from Eat Magazine in the March April 2010 issue come from their readers.
In the last issue of EAT the question was asked : what kind of eater are you? Eat magazine wrote: ” Eat readers…. They eat loyally at their favourite restaurants; shop for quality ingredients at farm markets…and support a sustainable, seasonal and local approach to eating.”
We are very happy that you have recognized the efforts and hard work of our Sooke Harbour House Team from the staff in the gardens, in the kitchen to the dining room, and gave our small hotel restaurant the following awards:
Best Farm to Table Cooking (use of local ingredients) Silver;
Essential Island Experience Gold and
Who Advocates for Food Issues? Silver for Co-owner Sinclair Philip
‘the Sooke Harbour House Farm’ on Whiffen Spit Road, just a few minutes from the Sooke Harbour House is slowly emerging with deer fencing to protect the plants, raspberry and blueberry plants in the ground now. Every day a new thing happens, we are very excited to have another acre and a half of wonderful fertile dirt to allow us to grow organically more food for our restaurant and for our neighbours.
Come to visit and play in the garden!
