If you have an hour, please join us for a presentation on organic Mexican chocolate by Michael Sacco of Toronto’s Chocosol. Sooke Harbour House is considering entering into a purchasing agreement with them so that we can use this in our pastry department.
12:00- Monday, August 10th at Sooke Harbour House in the Potlatch Room.
Chocosol Horizontal Traders and Chocolatiers:
Chocosol makes chocolate from a unique and delicious Mayan Cacao from the Lacondon Jungle in Chiapas Mexico. Organically grown, sun dried cacao beans are delivered from the indigenous communities in Mexico and artisanally produced in downtown Toronto using bicycle technologies and volcanic stone grinders.
Chocosol makes chocolate foods not chocolate candies. We trade with over 20 different communities in Southern Mexico, bringing symbolic products to Southern Ontario that cannot grow in our climate.
Our products are not over-processed, contain no preservatives or chemicals, and are made with whole foods. Our horizontal trading relationships go beyond selling merchandise – we promote alternative technologies, ethical trade and ecological production-systems.
Chocosol is run by a group of young actionists who bring a range of talents and passions to the table to inspire creativity and community initiatives.
Our goal is to develop the most ecological, ethical, and nutritious chocolate making model possible and educate through workshops, apprenticeships, and story telling.
Be healthy, eat chocolate!
